Fire Cider

Welcome fire cider. It’s cold/flu/ COVID season and we can all use a little boost to our immune systems. When I feel the onset of the common cold or flu, I make this spicy tonic to increase my immunity and improve digestive health.

The honey is great for sore throats, horseradish is prefect for fighting sinus problems and turmeric acts as an immunity booster.

Fire Cider ingredients

What you’ll need:

• 1 large red onion, diced
• 3 heads garlic, roughly chopped
• 1 lemon with peel, diced

• 1/2 cup fresh ginger, finely chopped
• 1/2 cup fresh turmeric, finely chopped
• 1/4 cup fresh horseradish, grated

• 1/4 cup fresh thyme, chopped
• 2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
• Raw apple cider vinegar & Honey to taste

Place all ingredients, except the raw honey, into a half gallon glass jar. Add raw cider vinegar until all the ingredients are coved. Replace the lid and let this bad boy sit for about a month.

Strain the herbs from the liquid using a strainer or cheesecloth. At this point, you can add warmed raw honey. I use about 1/3 cup but you can adjust to your taste. This will last about 6 months in your refrigerator.

Take 1 tablespoon once a day as a tonic or up to 3 tablespoon daily if you’re not feeling well.

Enjoy!
